Description
Frankincense (known in Arabic as Luban) is a resin secreted by the trunk of Boswellia Sacra tree. The Dhofar region in Oman, in southern Arabia, has been known for millennia as the source of the world’s best frankincense, prized by royalty around the world for its health giving properties. It has also long been valued as an incense for purification of the air and for beautifying the smell of homes and masajid.
Our luban comes from Samhan mountain, which is well known for outstanding quality luban. Trees growing on rocky, mountainous slopes usually produce higher quality bakhoor because of calcareous soil conditions. Samhan mountain is located in the Easter part of Dhofar. Luban from his region is called “Hojary” and is considered to be the highest grade of luban.
The larger pieces are prized for greater potency and longer lasting effects. Larger pieces have less surface area so retain a higher concentration of beneficial properties during the process of drying and storage.
