Red Ithmid Kohl Hejaz, known as “Isfahani” Kohl, is described as crushed and powdered red antimony stone. It is named “Isfahani” due to the presence of antimony near the Persian city of Isfahan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “One of the best kinds of kohl that you use is Ithmid ; it brightens the vision and makes the hair (eye-lashes) grow.” This is one half tola of crushed and powdered red antimony stone, known in the Hejaz as “Isfahani” kohl, due to the presence of antimony near the Persian city of Isfahan.
