The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “One of the best kinds of kohl that you use is Ithmid ; it brightens the vision and makes the hair (eye-lashes) grow.” This is one half tola of crushed and powdered red antimony stone, known in the Hejaz as “Isfahani” kohl, due to the presence of antimony near the Persian city of Isfahan.

This kohl is excellent and leaves my eyes feeling pure and refreshed. The red one is good because I am a man and sometimes I don’t like people to ask if I’m wearing eyeliner, and this is not visible if I wear it during the day.
